How to Choose the Right Plumber in Las Vegas

Choosing a plumber in Las VegasPicking a plumber in Las Vegas or Henderson can be a stressful process.  You want to assure that you select the best plumber for the job, but how do you know that they are qualified and competent?

Do they carry a license for plumbing in Las Vegas?

First of all, you want to verify that the plumber you choose is licensed with the Nevada State Contractor’s Board.  This site will also reflect any past or present compliance issues with the plumber’s license (if any).  Additionally, any plumber in Clark County is required to hold licenses within their jurisdictions they are working.  Licensed plumbers in Las Vegas will still need to hold other licenses in Henderson, Boulder City and North Las Vegas if they wish to perform work in those areas.

*TIP: A Las Vegas handyman is NOT licensed to be a plumber. A handyman cannot pull a permit which is required for any major plumbing repair, so please know the difference and verify your plumber’s credentials.

Are they an insured Las Vegas plumber?

All plumbers in Clark County are required to carry general liability insurance which protect the home owner. The Las Vegas plumbing company will be able to provide a certificate showing that they are currently insured.  You may even want to take it a step further and contact the broker referenced on the certificate to reassure the coverage is up to date.

Does the Las Vegas plumber have good reviews?

Almost everyone has access to the World Wide Web and can research a company before contacting them.  This is something you definitely want to do before trusting someone to enter your home and perform repairs.  Check the reviews of your Las Vegas plumber and read what others are saying before you make your decision.

The cheaper Las Vegas plumber doesn’t necessarily mean the better Las Vegas Plumber

A discounted plumber may not be the best choice.  No one can fault a consumer for wanting to shop pricing and get the best deal, but make sure you take into consideration the other factors mentioned in this article (licensing, reviews, complaints).

*Tip: It is common for plumbers in Las Vegas to work on a flat rate system versus charging by the hour.

If you take the time to do your research before choosing a Las Vegas plumber, you will be happier with the results.  Innovative Plumbing Pros is a Las Vegas plumbing company that is licensed, bonded and insured.  We are also highly rated and have great reviews including an A rating with the BBB.  So definitely consider contacting us to assist with any of your plumbing needs. I love looking up reviews before hiring anyone. That way I can get some sort of idea what the individual or company is like. Then I hopefully won’t end up hiring someone who isn’t going to do the job how they should. If you read reviews, you can see if other people enjoyed working with the individual. If not, you can start researching someone else.

This is some great information, and I appreciate your suggestion to find a plumber that has good reviews. My husband and I just moved into a new house, and a couple of the drains are having issues with backing up, so we want to have a professional come and fix that. We’ll definitely make sure to check reviews online to make sure past customers have had a good experience before we hire a plumber. Thanks for the great post!

I agree that any plumber you hire need to be properly licensed. I would imagine that this would not only protect you and them but also show their experience. I’m looking for a plumber to do some drain repair so I’ll have to choose someone who is properly licenced.

I like how you mention that when hiring a plumber, you want to verify that the plumber you choose is licensed. I would imagine that plumbers who are licensed are much more qualified than those who aren’t because they are held to higher standards. Hiring a licensed plumber will ensure that the repairs done on your pipes will last and won’t ever need to be repaired again.

I like how you mentioned checking a plumber’s online reviews. While this may seem obvious, I think it could be something easily forgotten when in a rush to find someone to fix an emergency. However, this can give you valuable insight as to how the plumber works and treats their customers, so I think it’s an important step and a good reminder.

I agree that a plumbing contractor you are going to hire needs to have a license. I would imagine that finding someone who is properly licensed would ensure they will be excellent and do what they need to. My husband and I need someone to do some plumbing in our home so we’ll have to find someone who is properly licensed.

The best way to find a good plumber is to have referrals from people you trust. Ask a friend, relative, or colleague you trust for a recommendation.

That’s a great point you make about how almost everyone has access to the internet and can research a company before contacting them. I’ve heard that it’s a great idea to read the 3-star reviews on Google of the company to get a good idea of how they work as a company. I’ll have to keep this great information as I try to choose a great plumber to help me with some projects around the home.

We have been having some problems lately with our sewer line, and we will definitely be needing a professional to help us. When choosing a plumber, we want to be sure to find someone reliable and qualified. As you said, making sure they are insured is a great way to verify their qualification and legality to work. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for these tips. You wrote that you shouldn’t choose a plumber completely based on price, and make sure you prioritize quality first. I’ll have to remember this, as I need a plumber to help stop my pipes from leaking. I’ll have to get a list of plumbers, and compare their quality of services, as that is the most important thing to consider.
